What's new in Navy

New features, improvements and fixes, as they ship. Most releases are on for every plan the day they land.

  1. Latest

Terraform provider and the Navy CLI

Define monitors, alert policies and status pages as code with the new Terraform provider, or apply YAML config with the Navy CLI.

You can now manage Navy entirely as code. The new Terraform provider covers monitors, alert policies, escalation policies, on-call schedules and status pages. The Navy CLI applies the same configuration from YAML files, so teams that do not use Terraform get the same workflow.

    Key Highlights:

    • Terraform provider: Every Navy resource is available in HCL, with full plan and apply support.
    • Navy CLI: Validate, diff and apply YAML config from your terminal or from CI.
    • Import existing monitors: Export the monitors you created in the dashboard to Terraform or YAML in one command.
    • REST API parity: The provider and CLI use the public REST API, so anything in the dashboard can be scripted.

This release puts monitoring in the same pull request as the service it watches. The provider and CLI are available on every plan.

  2. Status page subscribers and custom domains

Customers can now subscribe to your status page and get every update by email. Status pages can also run on your own domain.

Status pages can now keep your customers informed without anyone on your team sending a message. Visitors can subscribe by email and get every incident update and maintenance notice as it is posted. And your status page can now live on your own domain, on a status subdomain of the site your customers already know.

    Key Highlights:

    • Email subscribers: Customers subscribe from the status page and get incident updates, maintenance reminders and resolution notices.
    • Component subscriptions: Subscribers can choose only the components they care about.
    • Custom domains: Point a CNAME to Navy and we issue and renew the SSL certificate for you.
    • Private pages: Restrict a status page to your team or to signed-in customers.

This release turns your status page into the first place customers hear from you during an incident. Subscribers and custom domains are available on every plan.

  3. Multi-region confirmation and six new regions

Every outage is now confirmed from three regions before an alert goes out. Checks also run from six new regions, for 18 in total.

Navy now confirms every outage from three regions before anyone gets alerted. When a check fails, Navy immediately re-runs it from other regions on different networks. An incident opens only when three regions agree, so a flaky route or a single bad network no longer pages your team.

    Key Highlights:

    • Three-region confirmation: Outages and recoveries are both confirmed from three regions, on every monitor and every plan.
    • Six new regions: Checks now run from 18 regions, including new locations in South America, Africa and Southeast Asia.
    • Regional failures: Failures seen in only one region are recorded on the monitor and in the response time chart without paging anyone.
    • Region selection: Choose which regions run each monitor, or keep the default of all 18.

This release makes every alert one you can trust. Confirmation is on by default and needs no setup.
